About

Meet Dr. David P. Smith

Integrative Psychologist · Founder of Integrative Psyche Services

For 26 years I have sat with people through anxiety, grief, big transitions, and the quieter question of what a good life actually is. I work as an integrative psychologist, which means I do not force your experience into a single method. My training runs from behavioral and cognitive approaches through psychodynamic and psychoanalytic traditions, and all of it rests on a psycho-spiritual view of mental health: that real healing involves the whole person, not just a symptom.

I earned my PhD in Human Development and my MA at the University of Chicago, and I studied at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. I have been licensed for 24 years and working in the field for more than 40.

When I am not in session, you will usually find me with a book, or with my cat, Hermi.

Approach

How we work together

Therapy here is collaborative. I bring clinical experience; you remain the expert on your own life. Together we look at the whole picture, your history, your relationships, your body, and your sense of meaning, and we build a path forward that actually fits you.

Evidence-based and individually tailored

Psycho-spiritual depth, when you want it

The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.

Off the clock

The whole person, off the clock

Curiosity does not end at the office door. A few moments from travels, oddities, and the company I keep.

Beyond the practice

Special projects & research

The work reaches past the consulting room, into teaching, writing, and the questions that keep me reading late.

A new training clinic where advanced psychotherapy students see clients under Dr. Smith's direct supervision. Every trainee's work is overseen by a senior psychologist, so clients receive attentive, more affordable care without giving up quality.

Research

Four decades of inquiry into culture, consciousness, and traditional healing, with publications across psychotherapy research and integrative medicine.
