Clinical Hypnosis
A focused, deeply relaxed state we can use to support real change, on its own or alongside therapy.
Safe and effective
Hypnosis, also called hypnotherapy, has been called the oldest form of Western psychotherapy. It has proven effective for a number of clinical issues, and in that sense it is one of the most helpful tools a psychologist has.
There are many myths about hypnosis, most of them created by the media or by stage hypnotists. What matters to understand is that hypnosis is not about losing control. It is about gaining more control over your mind and body through the process.
How it can help
Hypnosis can work as a stand-alone treatment, or as a tool to increase the effectiveness of psychotherapy. Within therapy it intensifies the working relationship so we can focus more precisely on your concerns.
Ordinary psychotherapy has been described as therapy with a spotlight. Hypnosis is more like therapy with a laser.
About the process
In hypnosis, attention becomes more focused, usually inwardly, and difficulties can be worked on more intensely, often bringing a swifter resolution. Hypnosis can also increase access to creative and productive states of mind, so you can reach them more easily in daily life.
It can help with anxiety, depression, trauma, and pain management, and with behavioral change such as weight loss and stopping smoking. It can also enhance the more positive sides of life: creativity, academics, career goals, and sports.
Hypnosis is a versatile clinical tool for life improvement.
